Financial institutions have some of the biggest opportunities and challenges when it comes to content marketing. Here are just a couple we’ve been working to tackle over our previous Content Marketing World events:
- The industry is highly-regulated
- Organizations may lack funding
- Consumers lack trust or aren’t well-educated in this area
- It is difficult to differentiate brands
- Compliance slows down the process
- Adding a personal touch may be a challenge
Which is why we’re so thrilled to have some of the MB Financial Bank, N.A. team join us at CMWorld 2016, including Gillian Rosheuvel.
Be sure to say hi to Gillian online or in person in September, and read a little more about her here.
Name: Gillian Rosheuvel
Title: AVP, Content Marketing
Company: MB Financial Bank, N.A.
Is this your first CMWorld?
What made you decide to register this year?
My manager, Chris Clarke, suggested I attend. He’s attended in previous years and found it beneficial.
How did your career lead you to content marketing?
I have a background in corporate communications (mostly internal), which eventually led me to website content strategy. In a previous role, I did both web content strategy and some content marketing. That led me to apply for my current role, which focuses exclusively on content marketing.
If you switched careers today, what would you be doing?
I’ve always been curious about the tech side of content strategy and content management (CMS evaluation, information architecture, etc.).
What is your biggest content marketing challenge?
My biggest challenge is probably finding the necessary resources (writers, designers, etc.) to do more dynamic content (stuff besides articles and reports).
Where is one place in the world you’d like to visit? Why?
For the past few years, I’ve been fantasizing about visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia. After seeing a documentary about it, I have dreamed of hiking through that forest surrounded by its famous falling lakes.
If you could sit down with one person in our industry, who would it be? What would you want to ask?
I’d like to sit down with Ann Handley and ask how do you convince an organization to truly transform itself to be a content marketing publisher. This is an ongoing challenge across industries and sectors.
What is one orange item in your life you can’t live without?
The orange post-it pad on which I write my daily to-do list.
Be sure to say hi to Gillian when you see her at CMWorld 2016! Although she’ll be with members of her team to show her the ropes, I’m sure she’d love to make new connections with other new attendees!
